希腊神话里有着这样一群女妖，人首鸟身，名叫 塞壬 。
她们是阿刻罗俄斯的女儿们，妖娆异常，美艳不可方物。
塞壬以歌喉魅惑过往的水手，歌声犹如魔音，婉转清澈，闻者失神，
故而听见的水手们均触礁而亡，无一幸免，塞壬随后则吞食他们的身体。
传说奥德修斯在特洛伊战争取胜后返航路过塞壬岛，不顾阻拦，执意前行，并下令水手们用蜂蜡塞住耳朵。
而他自己为了亲耳听听传说中的美好歌声，则让水手们用铁索把他绑在桅杆上。
塞壬中的大女儿Parthenope在岛上见到奥德修斯的船，开始吟唱。
似天籁又似魔音的吟唱弥漫开来，瞬间攫住了奥德修斯的心智。
然而因为他被绑在桅杆上无法动弹，其他水手又堵住耳朵，他们竟就这样安全地离去。
见到奥德修斯远去，Parthenope投海自尽。
后来，有人说，她是真的爱上了这个男人。
